FriXion Ball: Write, Delete, Repeat!

instore with czipkid

We had the FriXion Light in the last time around, and now, FINALLY, we have the Pilot FriXion Eraseable Rollerball in store!
This very unique new pen, (at least to us!) erases cleanly by friction-generated heat, leaving no debris. Uses the same ink to write and over-write. Fine 0.7mm tip.

Those clever guys at Pilot's ink labs have come up with a new twist on the perennial search for an effective erasable pen. The ink laid down by the Frixion rollerball disappears under friction! The end of the pen has a hard plastic eraser, which when rubbed over the writing causes the colour to disappear from the ink. You can then write over it again with the same pen.

How does it work? Metamocolor technology! 'Metamocolor' is a word entirely made up by Pilot marketing people, but basically it's a type of thermo-reactive ink. The heat generated by the friction causes the ink to become translucent (at 65°C fact-hounds!). Stick it in the freezer (-20°C) and your scribblings will re-appear - albeit slightly faded. Ideal for secret messages and a lot easier than that old lemon juice and candle flames malarkey.

Pilot's new Frixion erasable rollerball is definitely a step ahead of the competition thanks to clever ink which turns transparent when subjected to friction. No eraser dust, and the line disappears very cleanly leaving only a faint impression of the erased line. The ideal way to erase is using the built-in eraser, though most hard plastic works OK. In fact if you're working on newsprint (eg. crosswords and Sudoku), the cap-end works better than the eraser as the eraser will smear the newspaper ink. (source Cult Pens)
Available in 6 colours: Black Blue Red Green Light Blue and Violet ink!
Refills will be available soon too!

There are some words of CAUTION though:
This product is not recommended for signatures, legal documents, examination papers or other documents where writing needs to be of a permanent nature. To avoid accidental erasure, do not leave writing where it may be subjected to high temperatures for a prolonged period.
