PETER PAN IN SCARLET

Something is wrong in Neverland. Dreams are leaking out - strangely real dreams, of pirates and mermaids, of warpaint and crocodiles. For Wendy and the Lost Boys it is a clear signal - Peter Pan needs their help, and so it is time to do the unthinkable and fly to Neverland again. But back in Neverland...

Geraldine McCaughrean is a multi-award winning author, the only children's author to have won the Whitbread Prize three times.

Readership: Ageless - the perfect read for all lovers of Peter Pan , all fans of Geraldine McCaughrean, and anyone who loves a wonderful, classic story.
RM 59.90 (hardcover).
Proceeds from every copy sold will go to benefit Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

19 October 2006 - There was a mysterious drop-off at CzipLee Books & Stationery Bangsar, this afternoon shortly after lunch.

Four cartons labeled with the very familiar Cathay Pacific air-freight stickers alongside two over-sized boxes, were neatly stacked at a corner. Hmmm...could it be a wrong delivery? Or a surprise gift from an overzealous CzipLee fan from Hong Kong?

Just to share, they looked like this:

Cathay Pacific Handle With Care!

Well, with our name clearly printed on the boxes, doubt the delivery man made a mistake. So here goes! We opened the two over-sized ones first and we got this:

Shelves Semi-Rack Emptiness!

We went like 'Huh?!' Then we moved on to and to our delight and excitement, we realise that "IT" has finally arrived!

Drumroll please...

Lil Yogis Sweep Through CzipLee Bangsar!

I had some friends over the other day from this "oh-so-cooool" Yoga centre called Yoga2Health or Y2H. My friends or Lil' Yogis as they are more popularly known were on a lantern festival cum Halloween walk around the neighbourhood.

They made CzipLee Bangsar their last and final stop before heading back to Y2H, which is just right up the road from our place. We had some goodie bags filled with sponsored stationery (think Faber-Castell & Stabilo!) and some delicious munchies for all of them.

After making their presence known in the store with their laughter and their infectious marvel of discovering all the cool stationery and books in the store, they settled down for some pictures before literally "blowing" their way out! (All of them had whistles with them!)

Check out the photos below that we took together with me of course:

For One More Day by Mitch Albom

I devoured his book, page by page in just one day.

In specific? 4 hours! (And worth every cent I paid for the book!)

It was such an easy read, with the big print and a catchy storyline.

Best of all? It was well researched and based on a real life story.

More like? Iit was Albom's way of telling us to appreciate what we have right now.

His style of writing is easy - straight to the point, bits and pieces of adjectives to paint you a picture and you can see his love of sports jumping right off the pages. I would think one of his reason for choosing this tale above the rest of "unnatural" or "supernatural" tales was because this was very much - sports related, and Albom is a true blue sports journalist.

It is a fantastic read with Albom recounting the life of Charley page by page, the many times his mother stood up for him, and the times he never stood up for his mother.

It’s bittersweet to think that a child has to choose to "love" either his mom or his dad from young - and even when he turns into an adult - he still yearns for his dad's approval.

The twist or rather, the surreal element of the book is when he tries to commit suicide, and once again - in just that one day - he meets his mother once more. He talks to her, tries to right all the wrong - talk about his hurts, his appreciation for her (finally) and how he tries to come to term with his failed marriage and daughter's rejection of him.

His ma tells him that his relationship with his loved ones is still salvageable and when he finally wakes up and recovers - he does make right his wrongs.

People talk about the "light at the end of a dark tunnel", "supernatural experiences", "out of body experience", well this is once well-researched story where a credible name like Albom who puts forth his evidence for such occurrences. It is in part, quite eerie and yet - surreal (sorry, I love this word!) - because the three people his mum helps to "prettify" are actual people, who meet their Maker right on the day (or close enough date and time) to when he was experiencing that one more day with his mum.

Overall, it is a very good book - with a well written ending to the tale, and certainly, a book which you want to get for people who just don't have the time to appreciate their loved ones whilst they are still around.
