Our History
Tombow Pencil Co., Ltd. was established in Japan in 1913 as a manufacturer of wood-cased lead and colored pencils. It is not an exaggeration to say that every student in Japan has grown up with the Tombow pencil.
During the past four decades, Tombow has diversified its manufacturing program to include ballpoint pens, roller ball pens, markers, correction tape, glue sticks, liquid glues, adhesive tape, and dry highlighters.

Today, Tombow has achieved an outstanding reputation for its unique, innovative and original products. Our exciting designs are offered at affordable prices that truly benefit the consumer. In fact, Tombow is one of Japan’s top five office products manufacturers.

Tombow’s main factory is in Shinshiro, which is located in the central part of Japan, with additional factories in Tokyo.

In 1991, Tombow established Tombow (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Bangkok, Thailand to produce products under strict quality control by our production engineers. This was to compensate for the severe international price competition that had developed in the marketplace.

Tombow has a subsidiary in Frankfurt, Germany, which distributes various Tombow products throughout Europe and also
American Tombow, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Tombow Pencil Co., Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan. This corporation is for the distribution of Tombow brand office and art products in North America.
Tombow also have very strong distribution in most of the Southeast Asian countries and our Tombow brand name has become synonymous with superior quality.

A video by Dutch visual artist Rogier Wieland introduces the new Planners/Diaries Collection 2011, with a sneak peek at the new entries, two new endpoints in the collection dimensional range: the Extra Small, a super portable organizing tool for people who love miniature design and small writing, available in six different colors, and the A4, made for desk use in an office environment. They are the smallest (2 ½ x 4 inches) and the biggest (12 x 81/2 inches) planners in the Moleskine catalogue so far, both hard cover, both in two different page layouts, daily and weekly.

You know that feeling when you gotta do something, and you know, that when you have finally gotten round to completing it, it was well worth the effort? Well, it’s this video, about a seven letter word. A word that can make so many laugh, look puzzled, and get their tongue all twisted up.

We’d like you to meet the man on the street, or the lady walking by, or that Cziplee customer who just happened to be walking by, when our talented videographer cum director (who else but Chin Yew?) whipped up his camcorder to ask complete strangers “How do you pronounce – Cziplee ah?”.
