    CzipLee 2010:An editorial of sorts…

    Dear you,

It has been a very busy December/January for us – what more with the whole Back to School fever and throw in Christmas – that we have had hardly any time to stop and breath! And we have already rolled into a brand new year so quickly that we have not had the time to sit down to pay a little reference to the brand new year, so Happy 2010!

Each new year, we get that opportunity to reflect on the year that was, to examine the highs, the lows, the in-betweens. Well, that’s one thing the New Year always offers: a look back into the past before we move onward into the future with expectation.

So how was our 2009? One word sums it up: Influence.

2009 was an awesome year for us. Thanks to your influence and constant feedback, we changed things around in both CzipLee Kajang and Bangsar. New shelves and display points were improved upon and many more products and brands were brought in to enhance your CzipLee experience.

CzipLee Bangsar had quite a complete makeover on the inside! We revamped both floors, from moving the check-out points to swapping the entire book department around! We do apologise to those of you who felt a little disorientated when you walked in after these changes! But we are sure you are enjoying the better flow of things…but like most things we do, it is still a work in progress, never-ending change for the better!

We launched a new look CzipLee Printing website with a bit of flash and an improved feature of our services: Wedding Stationery

Thanks to the influence of our social media friends or “si-fu’s” as we call them, we twittered more regularly and had a few good feature write-ups on how we used twitter as a marketing tool…well, like said ‘For what we lack, we twitter!’ Stay tuned for more twitter-related content this year!

But the highlight of 2009 was definitely our new concept store: CzipLee Plus. Your “Stationery Shangri-la” (as a popular magazine referred it as). A store filled with premium pens and notebooks, art supplies, scrap-booking and a little print shop for any customised jobs! We even have on-going Art classes in store! For more, check out www.czipplus.com! With CzipLee Plus, we have also seen our influence grow with recognition by our peers and friends from the media (e.g KLue, local dailies, etc)!

For more in-depth read on all this: “When the silence breaks…”

However, we have to say that the one thing that has helped us get up every morning to open up the stores and do better than yesterday is your influence on us. Yes, we may be guilty of being ignorant at times, and we apologise if we have offended you in any way in 2009, but we promise we will do better this year!

As we leave the past behind us while the future comes rushing forward, 2010 offers us a brand new year of possibilities – and we’re proud to say that this 2010 is a year of transformation.

And that begins by serving you better. Enhancing our customer service, to meet your needs as best as possible, besides beefing up our human resource and staffing to garner better service.

Also, we will be increasing our communication activities to ensure that – you, our beloved customers, will be kept in the loop on our latest product, shipment updates.

So cheers to the New Year and here’s to more from us for 2010!

All about: Moleskine – the history

    Moleskine @ CzipLee

The History of a Legendary Notebook

For two centuries now Moleskine (mol-a-skeen’-a) has been the legendary notebook of artists, writers, intellectuals and travelers – from gifted artists Henri Matisse (1869–1954) and Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890), to poet and leader of the surrealist movement André Breton (1896-1966), to Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) considered the most influential writer of the last century and to famous travel writer Bruce Chatwin (1940-1989). These notebooks have proven they can withstand the trials of travel and abuses that ensues from normal use. This is the one true trusted travel journal.

Despite the extraordinary tradition of Moleskine notebooks there was a pause in production in 1986. Writer-traveler Bruce Chatwin used to buy his Moleskine at a Paris stationery shop in Rue de l’Ancienne Comédie, always stocking up before going on his infamous journeys. He gave his friend Luis Sepùlveda, a Chilean novelist, a precious Moleskine before a trip to Patagonia. It was precious because by then the notebooks were no longer to be found, as the small family concern in Tours had closed down.

“Le vrai Moleskine n’est plus” were the lapidary words of the stationer to Chatwin who had ordered one hundred before leaving for Australia. Now, the Moleskine tradition has been revived by Italian manufacturer Modo & Modo. It can go back to being a witness, passing from one pocket to another and continue the adventure.     - History courtesy of Moleskine Asia-

Culture, imagination, memory, travel, personal identity

Moleskine® is a brand that identifies a family of notebooksdiaries, and city guides: flexible and brilliantly simple tools for use both in everyday and extraordinary circumstances, ultimately becoming an integral part of one’s personality.

Moleskine was created as a brand in 1997, bringing back to life the legendary notebook used by artists and thinkers over the past two century: among them Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and Bruce Chatwin. A trusted and handy travel companion, the ” href=”http://www.moleskine.com/moleskine/moleskineworld/images_1/03_bowles.gif”>nameless black notebook held invaluable sketches, notes, stories, and ideas that would one day become famous paintings or the pages of beloved books.

Today, Moleskine notebooks are trusted companions to the creative professions and the imagination of our own times: they have become a symbol of latter-day nomadism, and they are intimately tied to the digital world through a network of websitesblogs, online groups, and virtual archives.

All about: Moleskine – the family

    Moleskine @ CzipLee

The classic collection has all the features that describe a traditional Moleskine. Each notebook has a rigid, bound oilcloth “Moleskine” cover, with a durable thread bound binding and fine Italian acid-free paper pages. It also has a built-in elastic closure that holds the sturdy cover closed, a ribbon placeholder, and an expandable accordion pocket in the back made of cardboard and oilcloth for holding tickets, notes and clippings. Available in Black and Red.

The journalistic tradition inspires the reporter’s notebook. The binding has migrated to the short end of the notebook, the elastic now goes in the opposite direction, and the inside back pocket has shifted direction as well. The result is a highly functional notebook in a flip-top reporter style, and a new format for the creative professionals.

The “Cahier” line is a smaller, lighter cousin to the traditional Moleskine. The last 16 sheets are detachable, perfect for exchanging loose notes, to keep notes for free thoughts. Inside, there is a spacious pocket for notes or clippings. It is always handy, soft and light enough to carry everywhere, yet large enough to use with comfort and ease.

Moleskine planners are available in daily, weekly, weekly notebook, monthly notebook, and 18-month academic formats, with a wide range of useful information for people on the move. All the hardcover planners contain a special insert. In the red hardcover inside pocket there is an attachment with 24 lined tabbed pages and 225 sticky labels to apply. It is removable and re-usable over the years. The black hardcover pocket houses an address book with 28 lined pages with laminated alphabetical labels. You can remove and use it again in the years to come.

Bon voyage with Moleskine City Notebooks, the first guidebook you write yourself.
